St. John’s Crisis Centre is a not-for-profit organisation and relies heavily on volunteers to support the work we do every day. There are around 90 volunteers, supported by just a handful of paid and part-time staff.

Staff and volunteers manage the day to day operation of the welfare office, Drop-In Centre and Men’s Homes as well as administration, finance and governance across the organisation.

Working in an often confronting and challenging environment, our volunteers are a phenomenal source of passion and inspiration for the organisation. There are as many life-changing stories of volunteers being involved with St. John’s as there are the clients whose lives we impact.

During peak holiday seasons and Christmas, extra hands are always needed to cater for the additional demand on St. John’s services. Over 70 Christmas Hampers are prepared each year by volunteers – extra donations of gifts and food items, and extra volunteers to pack the hampers are needed in the lead up to the busy Christmas period.

If you would like to help, or are interested in becoming a regular volunteer, please contact us.
